DESCRIPTION: Better Homes & Gardens has been a reader favorite for over 80 years…and one of its most popular features is Prize Tested Recipes. In fact, it’s the longest running magazine recipe contest in the country. Better Homes & Gardens: Prize Tested Recipes – The Annual Challenge brings you the best of the best of this year’s recipes. It’s a fast paced half hour full of culinary delights.
More than 7000 entries were received from across the country as readers sent their best original recipes competing in 6 categories: desserts, everyday easy, good & healthy, grilling, holiday and personal favorites. In the end, they selected one winning recipe from each category – with each winner receiving $2500! The grand prize winner received $25,000!
Shot on location from Serenbe, GA, just south of Atlanta, we tour the eco-sustainable town and organic farm. We’ll meet local chef Hillary White of “The Hill at Serenbe” restaurant as she prepares one of the prize winning recipes. Another local favorite, Atlanta Restaurateur (and new BHG contributor) Scott Peacock, gives us some down home cooking tips as we spend some time with him at the Morningside farmer’s market and his restaurant, Watershed. We’ll also take a trip to wine country, Sonoma County California, and get some good advice from the folks at Rodney Strong Vineyards on how to pair the perfect vintage with our grand prize winning prepared by one of Sonoma’s most popular chefs, Jeff Mall of Zin restaurant.
The show is hosted by Carolyn O’Neil, nutritionist, cookbook author, CNN contributor and magazine columnist.
